A holiday classic returns to the Irish Repertory Theatre.
The Irish Repertory Theatre has announced full casting for It's a Wonderful Life: The 1946 Live Radio Play, adapted by Anthony Palermo. Performances will run from November 29-December 31 with an official December 3 opening. Charlotte Moore directs the production, reprising her direction of the play, which she mounted at Irish Rep in 2012.
The show is described as follows: "Christmas Eve, 1946… George Bailey, the nicest guy in town is in a terrible predicament. We find him perched precariously on a bridge, on the verge of suicide. Enter Clarence, George’s guardian angel, who has not yet earned his wings. Clarence shows George what Bedford Falls would be if George had never been born! This beloved holiday-season drama is brought vividly to life in a stage adaptation of Frank Capra’s classic film of sacrifice and redemption in small-town America. Set in a radio station in the 1940s, with a live sound FX artist, this poignant drama features six actors portraying 25 unforgettable characters."
The cast will feature Haley Bond (Fiddler on the Roof), Dewey Caddell (Finian’s Rainbow), Orlagh Cassidy (The Ruins of Civilization), Rory Duffy (Blue Bloods), Aaron Gaines (The Show Off) , and Ian Holcomb (CoExisting).
The creative team includes set design by James Morgan, costume design by Barbara Bell, lighting design by Brian Nason, sound design by Zach Williamson, and live sound effects by Rory Duffy. April Kline will serve as production stage manager.
