It's official: Tony Award nominee Brian d'Arcy James has set his return date to Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton.

James will reprise his performance as King George III beginning April 14, producers have announced. He replaces Taran Killam, who departs on April 13. The news that James would return to the show was first speculated this morning.

James was the first actor to play King George in Hamilton's original off-Broadway run at the Public Theater in 2015. Due to an engagement playing Nick Bottom in Broadway's Something Rotten!, a role which netted him a Tony nomination, James was unable to join the cast for their move to Broadway, instead handing over his crown to Tony nominee Jonathan Groff.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow's biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton. The musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War, and was the new nation's first treasury secretary. The production began performances at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 6, 2015.

The current cast of Hamilton features Jevon McFerrin in the title role, Brandon Victor Dixon as Aaron Burr, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler, Bryan Terrell Clark as George Washington, Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton, Michael Luwoye as Muñoz's alternate, J. Quinton Johnson as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, Jordan Fisher as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, and Seth Stewart as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.
