Jaclyn Backhaus, Hansol Jung, and More Become the Newest Members of the Kilroys

A new class of artists will fight for gender parity in the American theater.

The Kilroys, an LA-based collective of playwrights and producers fighting for gender balance in the American theater, have announced a new class of members to launch 2019.

Joining the collective are Jaclyn Backhaus (Men on Boats), Hilary Bettis (The Americans), Jennifer Chambers (The Cake), Claudia de Vasco (Managing Director of Emerging Arts Leaders/LA), Emma Goidel (The Gap), Christina Ham (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Jessica Hanna (Death Play), Monet Hurst-Mendoza (Lilia), Obehi Janice (Ole White Sugah Daddy), Hansol Jung (Wild Goose Dreams), Chelsea Marcantel (Airness), Caroline V. McGraw (Ultimate Beauty Bible), Bianca Sams (Rust On Bone), and Gina Young (Femmes: A Tragedy).

The founding members of the Kilroys are Zakiyyah Alexander, Bekah Brunstetter, Sheila Callaghan, Carla Ching, Annah Feinberg, Sarah Gubbins, Laura Jacqmin, Joy Meads, Kelly Miller, Meg Miroshnik, Daria Polatin, Tanya Saracho, and Marisa Wegrzyn. The group annually releases a list of under-produced plays by women, trans, and non-binary writers in an effort to achieve parity in the theater.
