Men on Boats, a new comedy by Jaclyn Backhaus, will be presented this summer in a coproduction of Playwrights Horizons and Clubbed Thumb. Running from July 19-August 14, the work will play the Peter Jay Sharp Theater under the direction of Will Davis.

Men on Boats is an anachronistic retelling of the 1869 Powell expedition, when a one-armed captain and a crew of insane yet loyal volunteers set out to chart the course of the Colorado River. The comedy premiered during the Clubbed Thumb Summerworks festival at the Wild Project in June 2015.

Featured in the company are Hannah Cabell, Danielle Davenport, Danaya Esperanza, Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Birgit Huppuch, Layla Khoshnoudi, Kelly McAndrew, and Kristen Sieh. The production features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Ásta Bennie Hostetter, lighting design by Solomon Weisbard, and sound design by Jane Shaw.
