Oscar winner Jane Fonda will have a recurring role as corporate executive Leona Lansing on HBO’s show about life at a cable news network, Newsroom, according to TVLine.com
The series, which is written by Aaron Sorkin, will feature Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston, Alison Pill, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, John Gallagher, Jr. and Thomas Sadoski
Fonda received a Tony Award nomination for her work in 33 Variations. Her many films include Klute and Coming Home, for which she won Oscars, along with Barefoot in the Park, The China Syndrome, and 9 to 5.
Sorkin wrote the Broadway plays The Farnsworth Invention and A Few Good Men. He won the Academy Award for Best Screenplay for The Social Network. His previous television series include The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, and Sports Night.
