Sugarland lead singer Jennifer Nettles and Broadway vet Carly Hughes celebrated their opening night in the Broadway production of Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre on February 3. Nettles takes on the role of Roxie Hart, and Hughes takes on the role of Velma Kelly through March 29.
The Fred Ebb, John Kander, and Bob Fosse musical is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking (in the style of Fosse). This revival at the Ambassador Theatre recently became the second-longest-running show in Broadway history, and it is currently the longest-running American musical.
Nettles, a three-time Grammy Award-winning country singer-songwriter, makes her Broadway debut. Hughes was last seen onstage as the Leading Player in Pippin. Check out their "Nowadays," "Hot Honey Rag," and curtain call in the gallery below.
