Mark Brokaw directs Stephen Adly Guirgis’s play.
Pershing Square Signature Center's currently running production of Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Stephen Adly Guirgis and directed by Obie Award winner Mark Brokaw, has been extended by two weeks, the company announced today. The run will now play through November 26.
In Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train, Angel Cruz is a 30-year-old bicycle messenger awaiting trial for the death of the leader of a religious cult. Inside Rikers Island, a terrified Angel is befriended by a charismatic serial killer named Lucius Jenkins. Lucius has found God and been born again, and now, Angel's life and the course of his trial will be changed forever.
The company features Erick Betancourt, Sean Carvajal, Ricardo Chavira, Stephanie DiMaggio, and Edi Gathegi. The creative team includes Riccardo Hernandez (scenic design), Dede M. Ayite (costume design), Scott Zielinski (lighting design), M.L. Dogg (sound design), and Cookie Jordan (wig and makeup design). Deborah Hecht is the dialect coach and Linda Marvel the production stage manager.
