Broadway veterans Kendra Kassebaum and Joe Cassidy will star in the Arizona Theatre Company/San Jose Repertory Theatre co-production of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey’s Pulitzer Prize-winner Next to Normal, to be directed and choreographed by David Ira Goldstein.
The musical will play at Tuscon’s Temple of Music and Art from September 15-October 16, followed by a run October 11-28 in Phoenix at the Herberger Thaeter Center. It will play the San Jose Repertory Theatre from January 10-February 3.
Kassebaum will play tormented suburban mother Diana, who chooses to undergo electroshock therapy treatment to deal with her bipolar disorder. Cassidy, who appeared in the Broadway production as well as an earlier production when the musical was still called Feeling Electric, will play her husband, Dan. The cast also includes Andrea Ross (Natalie), Jonathan Shew (Gabe), A.J. Holmes (Henry), and Mark Farrell (Doctor Madden/Doctor Fine).
The creative team includes Christopher McGovern (musical director), John Ezell (scenic design), Kish Finnegan (costume design), David Lee Cuthbert (lighting and projection design), and Abe Jacob (sound design).
