The Hollywood Bowl has announced that Broadway stars Sarah Uriarte Berry (End of the Rainbow), Phillip Boykin (Sunday in the Park With George), and Jonathan Groff (Hamilton) will complete the cast of the upcoming benefit performance of Sondheim on Sondheim. Set for a one-night-only performance on July 23, the production will benefit the Los Angeles Philharmonic's flagship program, Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA), and other L.A. Phil educational initiatives.
A musical revue of Stephen Sondheim's greatest compositions, the Hollywood Bowl's concert is directed by Sarna Lapine (Sunday in the Park With George). The event will also feature Lewis Cleale (The Book of Mormon), Tony nominee Carmen Cusack (Bright Star), Claybourne Elder (Sunday in the Park With George), Emmy nominee Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Modern Family, Fully Committed), Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles (The King and I), Tony nominee Matthew Morrison (Glee, Finding Neverland), Solea Pfeiffer (Hamilton tour), and Tony nominee Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty, Into the Woods).
Gustavo Dudamel will conduct the L.A. Phil and YOLA, who will join the show to perform "Children Will Listen" alongside the L.A. Phil. The production will be choreographed by Michele Lynch, with lighting design by Ken Billington, new orchestrations by Michael Starobin, arrangements by David Loud, and video created and designed by Peter Flaherty.
