The career of visionary stage and screen director Julie Taymor will be celebrated by her friends and colleagues on Monday, November 12 at Sonnet Repertory Theatre’s Eleventh Annual Benefit and Cabaret, beginning at 6pm at 92YTribeca.
Patrick Page, who played Dr. Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin in Taymor’s production of the hit Broadway musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, will host the event.
There will be special celebrity appearances by John Behlmann, Jonathan Groff, Nikki Renee Daniels, Ayo Jackson, Cheyenne Jackson, Sondre Lerche, Martin Luther McCoy, PigPen Theatre Company, Heidi Rodewald, Rema Webb, and Alton F. White, along with video tributes by Alan Cumming, Helen Mirren, and Alfred Molina
Taymor received Tony Awards for Best Direction and Best Costume Design for her work on the popular Broadway musical The Lion King. She has also directed productions of such plays and operas as The Green Bird, Titus Andronicus, The Magic Flute, and The Flying Dutchman. Her screen credits include Titus, Frida, The Tempest, and Across the Universe.
