Jonathan Groff will join the previously announced Alfred Molina in John Logan’s Tony Award-winning play Red at the Mark Taper Forum, running August 1 – September 9. Michael Grandage, who directed Molina in the play in the West End and on Broadway, will helm this Los Angeles production.
Groff received a Tony Award nomination for his starring performance in Spring Awakening. His many other stage credits include Hair, The Bachaae, Deathtrap, and The Submission. In addition, he plays Jesse St. James on FOX’s Glee.
Logan’s play centers on the relationship between the fiery painter Mark Rothko (Molina) and his new, younger assistant, Ken (Groff). Molina received a Tony Award nomination for his work in the show when it played Broadway in 2010.
