Jordan Baker, Ty Jones, Wrenn Schmidt, Tobias Segal et al. Set for INK’D

Casting has been announced for The Playwrights Realm’s free and open to the public reading series, INK’D, to be presented at Cherry Lane Studio Theatre.

The series will begin on Monday, June 6 at 6pm with Mattie Brickman’s Five Second Chances, directed by Shelley Butler. The play tells the story of a small town struggling with modernity and identity as a young American girl starts out to discover her roots and instead unearths a town secret buried long ago. The cast will include Brian Robert Burns, John Doherty, Nick Delany, Emily Kratter, Bob Kaliban, Peggy Scott and Wrenn Schmidt.

On Monday, June 6 at 8 pm, Lou Moreno will direct excerpts from Christopher Oscar Peña’s play Icarus Burns. The work is set in the social landscape of the 2008 American presidential election, and tells a story that criss-crosses political hot button issues from immigration, to domestic abuse, to gay marriage. The cast will include Maria Elena Ramirez, Jesse Perez, Rey Lucas Pena, Teddy Canez, Andrew Z. Kelsey, Sofia Gomez, and Carlo Alban.

On Monday, June 13, at 6pm, Bekah Brunstetter’s play Hey Brother will be directed by David Chapman. The play concerns mismatched brothers Isaac and Ben living under the same roof. The cast will include Sue Jean Kim, Adam Farabee and Eric Bryant.

On Monday, June 13 at 8pm, Stefanie Zadravec’s play The Electric Baby will be directed by Daniella Topol. When a car accident kills a young man, a group of fractured souls begin to discover the folklore and magic woven through their life stories. The cast will include Elizabeth Rich, Ty Jones, Jordan Baker, Michael Cullen, Jessica Love and Tobias Segal.
