Judi Dench is in early talks to star in a film adaptation of Artemis Fowl, directed by Kenneth Branagh. The news was first reported by Variety.
Playwright Conor McPherson will write the script, which is inspired by the children's book series by Eoin Colfer. The books follow Artemis Fowl, who plots to steal gold from the Fairy People and puts himself in danger.
Dench and Branagh star in his upcoming film Murder on the Orient Express, which is released November 10. They also starred together in a West End revival of The Winter's Tale in 2015.
Artemis Fowl is expected to be released by Disney on August 9, 2019.
