Judith Light, Bryan Cranston, and More Broadway Favorites Are Up for Golden Globes

Nominees for the 2016 Golden Globe Awards have been announced, and scores of theater favorites made the list for their contributions to the mediums of film and television.

On the film end, nominees include stage performers Cate Blanchett (The Maids) for Carol, Bryan Cranston (All the Way) for Trumbo, Helen Mirren (The Audience) for Trumbo, Al Pacino (China Doll) for Danny Collins, Saoirse Ronan (Arthur Miller's The Crucible) for Brooklyn, Eddie Redmayne (Red) for The Danish Girl, Mark Ruffalo (Awake and Sing!) for Infinitely Polar Bear, Mark Rylance (Richard III) for Bridge of Spies, and Michael Shannon (Long Day’s Journey Into Night) for 99 Homes.

On the television side, nominees include Broadway vets Uzo Aduba (Godspell, The Wiz Live!) for Orange Is the New Black, Alan Cumming (Cabaret) for The Good Wife, Viola Davis (Fences) for How to Get Away With Murder, Judith Light (Thérèse Raquin) for Transparent, Mark Rylance (Twelfth Night) for Wolf Hall, Liev Schreiber (A View From the Bridge) for Ray Donovan, Patrick Stewart (Waiting for Godot) for Blunt Talk, Maura Tierney (Lucky Guy) for The Affair, Lily Tomlin (The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe) for Grace and Frankie, and Patrick Wilson (All My Sons) for Fargo.

The Golden Globes will be broadcast on Sunday, January 10, on NBC, with Ricky Gervais serving as host.
