The two-time Tony winner will take on the role of the Fairy Godmother.
Tony winner Judy Kaye is set to join the cast of Broadway's Cinderella as the Fairy Godmother. She will star alongside the new, previously announced Cinderella, Keke Palmer, and wicked stepmother Sherri Shepherd. Kaye will step into the role at the Broadway Theatre on September 12.
Judy Kaye most recently appeared on Broadway as Duchess Estonia Dulworth in Nice Work If You Can Get It, for which she won Tony and Drama Desk awards. Her many previous Broadway credits include The Phantom of the Opera (she earned a Tony for her performance as Carlotta), Souvenir, Mamma Mia!, Ragtime, On the Twentieth Century, and Sweeney Todd.
With a new book by Douglas Carter Beane and the classic Rodgers and Hammerstein score, Cinderella officially opened on March 3, 2013. In addition to receiving a Tony nomination for Best Revival, the production, directed by Mark Brokaw, was honored with Actors' Equity's annual "Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway" award.
