Rent, to play Casa Mañana Theatre, March 3 – 11. Tim Bennett will direct and choreograph.
Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent tells the unforgettable story of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling and learning to survive, fall in love, find their voices and live for today. This rock opera, penned by Jonathan Larson, quickly became one of the most beloved and longest running Broadway musicals of all time, winning multiple Tony Awards and a Pulitzer Prize.
Casa Mañana’s production will star Jason Wooten (Roger), Karmine Alers (Mimi), and Adam Hose (Mark), as well as Jennifer Boswell (Maureen), Kia Dawn Fulton (Joanne), Maurice Johnson (Collins), Walter Lee Cunningham Jr. (Angel), and Christopher J. Deaton (Benny).
Additional ensemble members include Aubrey Adams, Ashley Arnold, Jeremy Dumont, Simone Gundy, Kyle Kleiboeker, Michael Muenchow, and Darius-Anthony Robinson.
The creative team will include Andrea Avruskin (associate director/choreographer), Jeremy Dumont (assistant director/choreographer), Eddy Robinson (music director), Tammy Spencer (costume designer), Samuel Rushen (lighting designer), and Duane McKee (sound designer).
