The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama is set to welcome several new cast members.
The ongoing off-Broadway production of Annie Baker's Pulitzer Prize winner The Flick will welcome three new cast members beginning September 1 at the Barrow Street Theatre.
The drama, directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, will welcome Kyle Beltran (Gloria) as Avery, Nicole Rodenburg (Inside Amy Schumer) as Rose, and Brian Miskell (The Undeniable Sound of Right Now) as Skylar/The Dreaming Man. They replace original cast members Aaron Clifton Moten, Louisa Krause, and Alex Hanna, respectively. Matthew Maher, who originated the role of Sam, remains with the production.
Set in a run-down Massachusetts movie theater, The Flick follows the heartbreaks, loneliness, and battles of three underpaid employees as they sweep up popcorn, mop the floors, play "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," and tend to one of the last 35-millimeter film projectors in the state. The Flick had its world premiere as part of Playwrights Horizons' 2012-13 season and features a creative team made up of David Zinn (scenic and costume design), Jane Cox (lighting design), and Bray Poor (sound design).
