Lazarus, David Bowie's New Musical Starring Michael C. Hall, Recording Cast Album

The New York Theatre Workshop production of David Bowie and Enda Walsh's new musical Lazarus is creating a cast album, according to The New York Times, which reported that the cast gathered to record their show earlier today. No release date or further information has so far been announced.

Inspired by the novel The Man Who Fell to Earth, Lazarus features new Bowie songs, as well as new arrangements of previously recorded tunes. Walsh pens the script, which centers on Thomas Newton, an extraterrestrial stranded on Earth after looking for ways to send water to his drought-plagued planet. Lazarus' final performance, on January 20, will serve as a benefit for the organization's artistic development and education programming.

Leading the company is Michael C. Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Dexter), alongside Tony Award nominee Cristin Milioti (Once), Michael Esper (The Last Ship), Krystina Alabado (American Idiot), Sophia Anne Caruso (The Sound of Music: Live), Nicholas Christopher (Whorl Inside a Loop), Lynn Craig (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson), Bobby Moreno (Year of the Rooster), Krista Pioppi (Spring Awakening national tour), Charlie Pollock (The Wild Party), and Brynn Williams (Bye Bye Birdie).
