Sarah Ruhl’s new play is directed by Rebecca Taichman.
Lincoln Center Theater has released photos from its production of Sarah Ruhl's How to Transcend a Happy Marriage, directed by Rebecca Taichman at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Performances began February 23 in advance of a March 20 opening.
The cast includes Tony winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch), Brian Hutchison (Man and Boy), Drama Desk Award winner David McElwee (The Wayside Motor Inn), Naian González Norvind (Her Requiem), Tony nominee Omar Metwally (Sixteen Wounded), Austin Smith (Hamilton), Oscar winner Marisa Tomei (The Realistic Joneses), and Emmy nominee Robin Weigert (Deadwood).
At a dinner party in the wilds of New Jersey, two married couples (Tomei and Metwally, and Weigert and Hutchison) discuss a younger acquaintance — a polyamorous woman who also hunts her own meat (Hall). Fascinated, they invite this mysterious woman and her two live-in boyfriends to a New Year’s Eve party, which alters the course of their lives.
The production has sets by David Zinn, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Peter Kaczorowski, sound by Matt Hubbs, and original music by Todd Almond.
