The one-man drama heads to the Berkshires.
Lisa Peterson and Denis O'Hare's drama An Iliad is currently running at the Lenox, Massachusetts-based Shakespeare & Company. The solo drama, starring Michael F. Toomey and directed by Jonathan Epstein, runs through November 1 at the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre.
A modern-day retelling of Homer's tale of gods and goddesses, undying love and endless battles, An Iliad is told through the eyes of a single narrator, whose gripping monologue captures both the heroism and horror of war. Crafted around the stories of Achilles and Hector, this powerful piece vividly drives home the timelessness of mankind's compulsion toward violence.
The production team for An Iliad includes costume designer Govane Lohbauer, lighting designer James Bilnoski, and onstage musician Gregory Boover.
