Longtime Matilda Mom Lesli Margherita to Exit the Broadway Production

Lesli Margherita will end her run as Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda The Musical at Broadway's Shubert Theatre on September 6. Margherita has starred in the production as Matilda's misguided mom since the show's opening on April 11, 2013.

Based on Roald Dahl's popular children's book, Matilda the Musical features a book by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. The show, which is directed by Matthew Warchus, tells the story of a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers. Prior to arriving on Broadway, where it earned five Tony Awards, Matilda enjoyed a West End run which won seven Olivier Awards, including Best Musical.

In addition to Margherita, Matilda's cast currently features Christopher Sieber as Miss Trunchbull, Alison Luff as Miss Honey, and Matt Harrington as Mr. Wormwood, with Tori Feinstein, Eliza Holland Madore, Brooklyn Shuck, and Fina Strazza sharing the title role.

The production has sets and costumes by Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.
