Duncan Macmillan’s play makes its American premiere under the direction of Jeremy Herrin and starring Denise Gough.
The St. Ann's Warehouse presentation of the National Theatre/Headlong's production of People, Places & Things by Duncan Macmillan (1984) is currently in rehearsals ahead of performances set to begin October 19. Opening night for the production, directed by Jeremy Herrin, is scheduled for October 25.
People, Places & Things makes its American premiere after playing London's West End in 2016. The production is described as follows: "Emma was having the time of her life. Now she’s in rehab. Her first step is to admit that she has a problem. But the problem isn’t with Emma, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth. But she’s smart enough to know that there’s no such thing. When intoxication feels like the only way to survive the modern world, how can she ever sober up?"
Denise Gough, whose turn as Emma won her an Olivier Award for Best Actress, returns for the New York engagement. She is joined by Jacob James Beswick (T, Ensemble), Alistair Cope (Foster), Jacqui Dubois (Jodi, Ensemble), Charlotte Gascoyne (Charlotte, Ensemble), Kevin McMonagle (Paul, Dad), Nathaniel Martello-White (Mark), Barbara Marten (Doctor, Therapist, Mum), Himesh Patel (Shaun, Ensemble), and Laura Woodward (Laura, Ensemble).
