Lucas Hnath's Red Speedo Opens at New York Theatre Workshop

New York Theatre Workshop celebrated the opening night of Lucas Hnath's Red Speedo on March 3. Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, the production runs through March 27.

Set on the eve of the Olympics swim trials, pressure builds as front-runner Ray confronts the lure of endorsements, the perils of mixing the personal and professional, and the unforgiving weight of success. The story offers an exploration of America’s obsession with winning at all costs.

The cast of Red Speedo features Alex Breaux (The Real Thing), Peter Jay Fernandez (All the Way), Lucas Caleb Rooney (Golden Boy), and Zoë Winters (Love and Information).

The creative teams includes scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Montana Blanco, lighting design by Yi Zhao, sound design by Matt Tierney, and fight direction by Thomas Schall.
