Craig “muMs” Grant and Melissa Ross will also have their works presented.
Labyrinth Theater Company has announced plans for its 2014-15 season, including works by Craig "muMs" Grant, Lucy Thurber, and Melissa Ross. All productions will be presented at Labyrinth Theater Company's home, the Bank Street Theatre.
Opening the season in September will be A Sucker Emcee, written and performed by Grant and directed by Jenny Koons. Featuring hip-hop, slam poetry, and personal recollections, muMs' one-man show follows his life from childhood in the Bronx to a starring role on HBO.
Playwright Lucy Thurber's new play, The Insurgents, will be directed by Lear deBessonet in early 2015. The play follows Sally Wright, a woman who has traveled across the country searching for something to believe in, only to find herself home again.
Nice Girl, written by Melissa Ross and directed by Labyrinth Theater Company's Artistic Director Mimi O'Donnell, will bring the season to a close in the spring. The plot follows 37-year-old Josephine Rosen, who has settled into the uncomfortable comfort of an unintended spinsterhood before a chance flirtation gives her hope for the possibility of change.
Labyrinth will also continue its annual Barn Series, a reading festival of new plays.
