The Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright is joined by other theater vets, including Ariana Grande and Emilia Clarke.
Time Magazine has released its 2019 list of the 100 most influential people in the world, and several theater veterans appear.
Two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Lynn Nottage makes the list, with an appraisal written by Martha Plimpton, who stars in the new London production of Nottage's drama Sweat. "She brings a sense of curiosity to all sorts of subjects and a clear eye to notoriously difficult parts of American culture and society," Plimpton notes in an essay you can read here.
Stage vets who made the list also include two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali (Smart People), Emilia Clarke (Breakfast at Tiffany's), Tony winner Glenn Close (Sunset Boulevard), Ariana Grande (13), Hasan Minhaj (Homecoming King), and Sandra Oh (Stop Kiss).
