The Public Theater has announced an extension for the world-premiere production of Lynn Nottage's Mlima's Tale, now running through June 3 beyond its previously announced closing date of May 20. Mlima's Tale began performances Tuesday, March 27, in advance of an April 15 opening.

Directed by Jo Bonney, Mlima's Tale is described as "the story of Mlima, a magnificent elephant trapped in the clandestine international ivory market. Following a trail of greed and desire as old as trade itself, Mlima leads us through memory and fear, history and tradition, and want and need." The cast features Ito Aghayere, Jojo Gonzalez, Kevin Mambo, and Sahr Ngaujah.

The creative team includes Riccardo Hernandez (scenic design), Jennifer Moeller (costume design), Lap Chi Chu (lighting design), Darron L. West (sound design), Justin Hicks (original music), and Chris Walker (movement direction).
