Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn’s Greek-comedy-inspired musical will open the theater’s 16th season.
Chance Theater in Anaheim Hills, California, will kick off its 16th season in its new theater with Douglas Carter Beane and Lewis Flinn's Tony-nominated musical Lysistrata Jones. The production will begin performances on February 7 in advance of a February 15 opening and will run through March 9.
Based on Aristophanes' classic comedy, Lysistrata Jones followed Lyssie J. and her girl-power posse at Athens University who refuse to "give it up" to their basketball-playing boyfriends until they win a game. The cast includes Devon Hadsell, J.D. Driskill, Camryn Zelinger, Ashley Arlene Nelson, Robert Wallace, Klarissa Mesee, Chelsea Baldree, Danielle Rosario, resident artist Jackson Tobiska, Darian Archie, Michael Dashefsky, and Ricky Wagner.
Helmed by Kari Hayter, the musical will feature choreography by Chance resident artist Kelly Todd, music direction by Rod Begheri, scenic design by resident artist Christopher Scott Murillo, lighting design by Matt Schleider, sound design by Ryan Brodkin, costume design by Bradley Lock, props design by Daniel Bravo, and dramaturgy by Sarah DuVal.
