Five Mile Lake, a new play written by Rachel Bonds and directed by McCarter Artistic Director Emily Mann, will close out the McCarter Theatre Center season with a run from May 1-31.
The story follows Jamie, who enjoys a quiet life in his small Pennsylvania town, fixing up his grandfather’s old lake house and pining after Mary, his troubled coworker. But Jamie's peaceful world is thrown into disorder when his brother comes back to town with a new girlfriend.
The cast of Five Mile Lake includes returning McCarter artists Kristen Bush as Mary, Tobias Segal as Jamie, and Mahira Kakkar as Peta. Newcomers to McCarter include Jason Babinsky as Danny and Nathan Darrow as Rufus.
The show's creative team includes scenic designer Edward Pierce, lighting designer Jeff Croiter, sound designer Daniel Perelstein, and costume designer Jennifer von Mayrhauser.
Five Mile Lake was presented as part of the 2013 McCarterLab Reading Series. Costa Mesa, CA’s South Coast Repertory Theatre presented the world premiere in the spring.
