New York City
The new musical is directed by Dan Knechtges.
A private industry reading of the Broadway-bound musical adaptation of Richard Matheson's novel and Universal Pictures film Somewhere in Time will be held on February 13 in midtown Manhattan.
As previously announced, Tony Award nominee Laura Osnes (Cinderella) will head the cast of the reading. Osnes will be joined by Marc Kudisch (Hand to God). Full casting will be announced in the coming months.
The musical features a score by Doug Katsaros and Amanda Yesnowitz, with a book by Ken Davenport. It had its world-premiere production in spring 2013 at Portland Center Stage and starred Andrew Samonsky.
Based on Matheson's novel and its subsequent film adaptation starring Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, Somewhere in Time follows young playwright Richard Collier who has an encounter with a mysterious old woman on the opening night of his earliest success. Years later, with his life and career in disarray he checks into a storied hotel for some quiet contemplation and finds himself traveling back in time to the year 1912 where he falls in love with an actress from the past.
Somewhere in Time will be directed by Dan Knechtges and feature set design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Christopher Ackerlind, orchestrations by Doug Katsaros, and musical direction by Paul Staroba.
