A.R. Gurney's Love Letters begins performances tonight at Barrington Stage.
This two-hander is a touching, funny, and ultimately moving story of a 50-year correspondence between two childhood friends whose relationship weathers time and distance. Deborah Jo Rupp (Becoming Dr. Ruth, All the Way) stars as Melissa, and Mark H. Dold (Freud’s Last Session, Breaking the Code) stars as Andrew. Julianne Boyd directs.
A Pulitzer Prize finalist by A.R. Gurney, Love Letters first appeared on Broadway in 1989 starring Colleen Dewhurst and Jason Robards. In 2014 it returned to Broadway featuring a rotating cast that included Brian Dennehy, Mia Farrow, Alan Alda, and Candice Bergen.
The creative team includes Lucas Pawelski (lighting and sound designer) and Lisa Klages (production stage manager).
Performances run through October 2.
