Classic Stage Company has announced that acclaimed actors — and married couple — Becky Ann Baker (Good People) and Dylan Baker (The Audience) have joined the cast of its upcoming production of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. Directed by Tony Award winner John Doyle (The Color Purple), who will become the company’s new Artistic Director in July, the play will begin previews May 11 with an official press opening May 25. The limited engagement will run through June 19.
Also featured in the ensemble cast are George Abud (The Visit), Quincy Tyler Bernstine (In the Next Room), Gabriel Ebert (Thérèse Raquin), Adam Heller (It Shoulda Been You), and Jane Pfitsch (Cabaret).
Peer Gynt follows young Peer from childhood renegade to outcast, adventurer, industrialist, and provocateur as he searches for a life that will live up to his impossible and irrepressible expectations.
Scenic design is by David L. Arsenault, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Jane Cox, and original music and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
