Shakespeare’s late romance comes to New Jersey.
Broadway vets including Mary Testa (First Daughter Suite) and Kevin Mambo (Fela!) will star in Two River Theater's upcoming production of Shakespeare's Pericles. David Schweizer directs the production, which features choreography by Dan Knechtges and music by Rinde Eckert.
The first of the Late Romances, this version of Pericles is set in a dive bar at the end of the world, where a group of barflies and musicians gather to tell Shakespeare’s epic story of adventure, loss, redemption, and miraculous resurrections. Joining Testa and Mambo in the cast are J. Clint Allen, Philippe Bowgen, Ellen Harvey, and Nikki Massoud. Grammy winnner Eckert will also be part of the ensemble, providing continuous underscoring with the onstage band. The members of the acting ensemble will play multiple roles.
The creative team includes musical director Ian Axness, guitarist Will Bernard, scenic designer Caleb Wertenbaker, costume designer Gabriel Berry, lighting designer Christopher Akerlind, and sound designer Ryan Rumery.
