The musical movie opens in US theaters on December 9 ahead of its Netflix release.
It was announced today that the soundtrack for the Netflix film adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical will be released digitally on November 18 ahead of a December 9 CD release. Produced by Sony Music Masterworks / Milan Records, the album's lead single, "Revolting Children," debuts today.
Matilda features a Tony-nominated score by Tim Minchin, and the film's soundtrack includes vocals by Academy Award winner Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, Andrea Riseborough, and Stephen Graham, as well as newcomer Alisha Weir, who leads the film as Matilda. The soundtrack also includes 10 instrumental score pieces by Christopher Nightingale (music supervisor and orchestrator of the original stage production).
Matilda debuts in US theaters on Friday, December 9, and will be available on Netflix [excluding the UK and Ireland] on Christmas Day. The film is directed by the musical's original director Matthew Warchus, with a screenplay by the musical's Tony-winning book writer Dennis Kelly.
