Jonathan Brielle’s musical explores the life of author James Joyce.
Himself and Nora, a new musical by Jonathan Brielle, will make its off-Broadway debut beginning May 14 at the Minetta Lane Theatre. Michael Bush directs the production, which officially opens June 6.
The work, which features book and score by Brielle, explores the relationship between author James Joyce and Nora, the country girl from Galway whose burning sexuality and acerbic wit inspired the genius.
Matt Bogart (Jersey Boys) will play James Joyce, after originating the role during the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Casting for the role of Nora will be announced in the coming weeks.
The production has choreography by Kelli Barclay, set design by Paul Tate dePoo III, costume design by Amy Clark, lighting design by Jason Lyons, and sound design by Keith Caggiano.
