Matthew Lopez’s comedy will run at the Geffen Playhouse.
Casting is set for the Los Angeles premiere of Matthew Lopez's comedy The Legend of Georgia McBride, set to run at the Geffen Playhouse April 4-May 14.
The Los Angeles mounting will reunite playwright Lopez with members of the original New York cast and creative team, including director Mike Donahue, choreographer Paul McGill, and cast member Matt McGrath, who reprises his acclaimed performance as Miss Tracy Mills, as well as scenic designer Donyale Werle, and sound designer Jill DuBoff.
The Geffen cast will also include Andrew Burnap as Casey, Nija Okoro as Jo, Larry Powell as Rexy/Jason, and Nick Searcy as Eddie. The production will feature costumes by E.B. Brooks and lighting by Josh Epstein.
The Legend of Georgia McBride follows an Elvis impersonator as he becomes a drag queen in order to make ends meet for himself and his pregnant wife. The play had its New York premiere in 2015 via MCC Theater.
