It was a particularly celebratory "opening night" last evening at Terrence McNally's backstage comedy It's Only a Play, now running at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The record-breaking production welcomed T.R. Knight to the cast as frustrated Broadway director Frank Finger, as well as original cast member Nathan Lane, who recently concluded his run at BAM in The Iceman Cometh. The dynamic duo of Lane and Matthew Broderick reunited in their original roles of bitter actor James Wicker (Lane) and nervous playwright Peter Austin (Broderick), who awaits his play's opening night reviews. The cast also features original cast members F. Murray Abraham, Stockard Channing, and Micah Stock, along with Katie Finneran in the role of producer Julia Budder.
