”The Carole King Musical” is getting ready to hit the road.
The stars of the upcoming first national tour of Beautiful — The Carole King Musical met the press at their rehearsal studio on September 1. As previously announced, Broadway vet Abby Mueller, sister of Beautiful — The Carole King Musical on Broadway's Tony-winning star Jessie Mueller, will take on the title role.
The principal cast also includes Ben Fankhauser (Newsies), Becky Gulsvig (Legally Blonde), and Liam Tobin, who will play Carole King's colleagues Gerry Goffin, Cynthia Weil, and Barry Mann, respectively. In addition, Curt Bouril will take on the role of Don Kirshner while Suzanne Grodner is set to play Genie Klein.
The ensemble will feature Mark Banik, Ashley Blanchet, Sarah Bockel, Andrew Brewer, Brittany Coleman, Rebecca Covington, Josh A. Dawson, John Michael Dias, Ryan Farnsworth, Rosharra Francis, Jay McKenzie, Aliana Mills, Paris Nix, Noah Ricketts, Nasia Thomas, Salisha Thomas, Delaney Westfall, and Dashaun Young.
The Beautiful tour has announced stops in Washington, D.C. (October 6-25), Pittsburgh (October 27-November 1), Boston (November 3-15), Minneapolis (November 18-29), Chicago (December 1-February 21, 2016), and many more locations. Click here for the full list of tour stops.
Beautiful, which chronicles the early life and career of the legendary and groundbreaking singer and songwriter Carole King, features a book by Douglas McGrath. The musical's songs are written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, including "Will You Love Me Tomorrow," "One Fine Day," "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman," and more.
