Meet John Doe, Andrew Gerle and Eddie Sugarman’s musical inspired by the 1941 Frank Capra, will receive a cast recording on the Broadway Records label.

Featuring members of the show’s original, 2006 Ford’s Theatre company, the album will be released on November 19. Vocals are provided by Heidi Blickenstaff (Now. Here. This.), who received a 2007 Helen Hayes Award for her performance in the show, James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet), Joel Blum (Show Boat), Robert Cuccioli (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), John Jellison (Memphis), and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Newsies).

The musical tells the story of ambitious newspaper reporter Ann Mitchell (Blickenstaff), who, after losing her job during the Depression, writes a prank letter to a publication from a “John Doe” saying that he plans to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge on New Year’s Eve. Unexpectedly, the letter is printed, “John” becomes a sensation, and Ann begins to ghostwrite his columns.

Meet John Doe received a Jonathan Larson Award in 2006.
