Rebecca Taichman directs the drama, which explores the controversy behind the play ”God of Vengeance”.
The cast and creative team of Paula Vogel's Indecent met the press at their rehearsal studio on March 29. Presented by Vineyard Theatre in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre, the work begins previews April 27 and opens May 17.
Cocreated and directed by Rebecca Taichman, the new play with music is inspired by the controversial Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s 1923 play God of Vengeance. Some saw it as a seminal work of Jewish culture, and others as an act of traitorous libel. Vogel's play features music composed by Lisa Gutkin, with choreography by David Dorfman.
The company is made up of Katrina Lenk (Once), Mimi Lieber (Act One), Max Gordon Moore (Relatively Speaking), Tom Nelis (The Visit), Steven Rattazzi (The Fourth Sister), Richard Topol (Fish in the Dark), and Adina Verson (Him).
