The new play explores growing up gay and black in America.
The cast of Robert O'Hara's new play Bootycandy met the press at Playwrights Horizons on August 1. Directed by O'Hara, the piece, which explores the experience of growing up gay and black in the United States, stars Phillip James Brannon, alongside Jessica Frances Dukes, Jesse Pennington, Benja Kay Thomas, and Lance Coadie Williams. After premiering at Washington D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in June 2011, the New York production runs August 22-October 12, with opening night set for September 10.
