New York City
The new play has its premiere at the Vineyard Theatre.
The stars of Gloria, a new play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, met the press at the New 42nd Street rehearsal studios on April 27. Directed by Evan Cabnet, the production will begin performances on May 28 at the Vineyard Theatre.
Gloria follows an ambitious group of editorial assistants at a notorious Manhattan magazine. Each of them hopes for a starry life of letters and a book deal before turning 30. But when an ordinary humdrum workday becomes anything but, the stakes for who will get to tell their own story become higher than ever.
The company includes Jeanine Serralles, Jennifer Kim, Catherine Combs, Kyle Beltran, Michael Crane, and Ryan Spahn. Gloria has scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Ilona Somogyi, lighting design by Matt Frey, and sound design by Matt Tierney.
Jacobs-Jenkins is also the author of An Octoroon, Appropriate, War, and Neighbors. Cabnet's directing credits include The Performers, Outside People, The Dream of the Burning Boy, and the upcoming Broadway revival of Thérèse Raquin, starring Keira Knightley.
