Goodspeed Musicals has announced plans to present a star-studded workshop of The Honeymooners, a new musical based on the beloved CBS television series. The invite-only workshop will take place at New 42nd Street Studios on November 7. The Honeymooners features a book by Dusty Kay and Bill Nuss, music by Stephen Weiner, and lyrics by Peter Mills.
The cast will feature Tony Award winner Michael McGrath as Ralph Kramden, four-time Emmy Award winner Hank Azaria as Ed Norton, Leslie Kritzer as Alice Kramden, and Megan Hilty as Trixie Norton. The complete workshop cast will be announced at a later date.
As in the CBS classic, The Honeymooners follows the adventures of Ralph Kramden and his buddy Ed Norton. The plot is described as follows: "After shocking their wives by winning a high profile jingle contest, they are catapulted out of Brooklyn and into the cutthroat world of Madison Avenue, where they find themselves torn between success and friendship."
Tony Award winner John Rando will direct the musical comedy, with choreography by Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse.
