Steve Martin’s new comedy celebrates its Broadway opening tonight at the Booth Theatre.
Steve Martin celebrates the Broadway opening of his new comedy Meteor Shower tonight at the Booth Theatre, coinciding with the San Francisco opening of Martin's musical Bright Star at the Curran Theatre.
Directed by Jerry Zaks, Meteor Shower marks the Broadway debuts of Emmy Award winners Amy Schumer and Keegan-Michael Key, also featuring Tony Award winner Laura Benanti and Tony Award nominee Jeremy Shamos. The story is described as follows: "It's a hot night in Ojai, California, and Corky (Schumer) and her husband, Norm (Shamos), are having another couple over for dinner. Laura (Benanti) and Gerald (Key), though, aren't looking for a casual evening of polite small talk with new friends. Eventually, the two couples find themselves in a marital free-fall matched in velocity and peril only by the smoldering space rocks tearing through the sky."
The design team includes Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), and Fitz Patton (sound design).
