Michael Shannon to Join Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane in Superman: Man of Steel Movie

Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon will co-star as the villainous General Zod in the new film, Superman: Man of Steel, to be directed by Zack Snyder.

The film is also slated to star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, an. Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Superman’s adoptive Earth parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Shannon recently starred Off-Broadway in Craig Wright’s Mistakes Were Made. His other New York stage credits include Bug, Killer Joe, The Little Flower of East Orange, and Lady.

He received an Oscar nomination for his performance in Revolutionary Road. Among his other film credits are Vanilla Sky, Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys II, as well as the forthcoming The Iceman. In addition, he portrays Agent Nelson Van Alden on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire.
