Roundabout Theatre Company will present an Off-Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson’s Talley’s Folly at the Laura Pels Theatre, beginning previews on February 8 in advance of a March 5 opening. Michael Wilson directs the production.
The 1979 play, which won the 1980 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, explores one night in the unlikely romance of Jewish immigrant Matt Friedman and Protestant nurse Sally Talley, as he returns to the small Missouri town where they met to ask her hand in marriage.
Casting and additional information about the production will be announced in the future.
Playwright Wilson’s work includes Balm in Gilead, Lemon Sky, The Hot I Baltimore, Burn This, Redwood Curtain, and the Talley trilogy, Fifth of July, Talley’s Folly, and Talley & Son. He died in 2011.
Director Wilson has staged Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Horton Foote’s The Orphans’ Home Cycle, Dividing the Estate, The Carpetbagger’s Children, and many others.
