The reproductive rights advocacy organization A Is For has announced casting for its annual karaoke benefit event, Broadway Acts for Women, set for May 7 at Feinstein's/54 Below. Doors will open at 5:15pm for a 6:15pm show.
Hosted by Saturday Night Live's Cecily Strong, the event will feature performances by Martha Plimpton (The Real O'Neals), Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club), Brian D'Arcy James (Hamilton), Keith Carradine (Hands on a Hardbody), Jenn Colella (Come From Away), Ariana DeBose (A Bronx Tale — The Musical), Noah Galvin (The Real O'Neals), Rebecca Luker (Cinderella), and more. Audience members will have the chance to bid on their favorite Broadway stars singing the song of their choice, accompanied by auction and raffle items. Dan Lipton will lead the A Is For house band as the evening's music director.
Founded in 2012, A Is For is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing women's reproductive rights and ending the stigma against abortion care. Last year's karaoke benefit raised more than $70,000, with auction and raffle items that included a private concert by Tony winner Michael Cerveris, V.I.P. tickets for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, and a commissioned portrait by John Lithgow.
