The Vineyard Theatre held its annual gala on March 14 at The Edison Ballroom.
The evening honored Vineyard board president and award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant and veteran New York theatrical press agent Sam Rudy.
Broadway veteran Chalfant is the Vineyard Theatre’s newly elected board president and has entered her 20th year of board service. She made her Vineyard premiere in the 1983 production of Brian Friel's Faith Healer, later appearing in The Party, and more.
On Broadway, Chalfant appeared in Angels in America: Millennium Approaches. Most recently, she has played recurring roles in Showtime’s The Affair, Netflix's House of Cards, and FX's The Strain.
Rudy has spent 35 years in New York working as a publicist for countless shows on, off-, and off-off-Broadway. For 25 years, he has represented the Vineyard Theatre, where he has worked with such celebrated writers as Edward Albee, John Kander, Paula Vogel, and Nicky Silver. Broadway productions represented include Hamilton, Cinderella, and The Last Ship. He is also the publicist of Cherry Lane Theatre, La MaMa, and Ma-Yi Theater Company.
