New York City
Justin Guarini and Rose Hemingway star in the new musical inspired by the classic television series beginning tonight.
Performances begin tonight for Moonshine: That Hee Haw Musical, which is having its world premiere at the Dallas Theater Center. Performances will continue through October 11.
Set in present-day Kornfield Kounty, the musical distills the spirit of an iconic television series and bottles it into an original musical comedy. The show follows Misty Mae, the ultimate hometown girl, who heads out to follow her dreams in the big city of…Tampa. When she returns home to introduce her slick city-boy beau to her friends and family, everything goes haywire.
The world premiere cast will feature Justin Guarini, Rose Hemingway, Ken Clark, Ryah Nixon, Rob Morrison, Kevin Cahoon, and P.J. Benjamin, with an ensemble that includes Mackenzie Bell, John Campione, Travis Coombs, Leslie Flesner, Julie Johnson, Kate McMillian, Harris Milgrim, and Adam Perry.
The production features a book by Robert Horn and a score by country-music songwriters Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. Honeymoon in Vegas creatives Gary Griffin and Denis Jones reunite as director and choreographer, respectively, with musical supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.
The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (set design), Mara Blumenfeld (costume design), Philip Rosenberg (lighting design), and John Shivers (sound design), with musical supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Stephen Oremus.
