Two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane will receive the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's 15th annual Monte Cristo Award, presented at a gala dinner on April 13 at the Edison Ballroom.

The Monte Cristo Award is presented to a prominent theater artist in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying Eugene O’Neill’s "pioneering spirit, unceasing artistic commitment, and excellence." Recent recipients of the honor include Meryl Streep, Christopher Plummer, and Michael Douglas, among many others.

Lane will next be seen on stage as Hickey in the Goodman Theatre production of O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh at BAM. He recently completed a run in Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play on Broadway opposite frequent costar Matthew Broderick. Lane received Tonys for his performances as Max Bialystock in The Producers and Pseudolus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. On screen, he has appeared in The Birdcage, Modern Family, and The Lion King, among many other programs.

Founded in 1964, the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center is the country’s preeminent organization dedicated to the development of new works and new voices for American theater. The award is named for Monte Cristo Cottage, O'Neill's boyhood summer home, a historic landmark which the Center owns and operates as a museum.
