New York City
The classic musical will come home to New York this holiday season.
Brooklyn’s newly restored Kings Theatre will host the upcoming New York engagement of the new U.S. tour of Annie. The classic musical will play 16 performances at the venue, from December 15-27, under the direction of original lyricist and director Martin Charnin.
Leading the company as Annie is 10-year-old Issie Swickle, along with Lynn Andrews as Miss Hannigan, Gilgamesh Taggett as Oliver Warbucks, Ashley Edler as Grace, Garrett Deagon as Rooster, Lucy Werner as Lily, Jeffrey B. Duncan as FDR, and recent Broadway revival star Sunny, who plays Annie's canine pal, Sandy.
The creative team is made up of Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Suzy Benzinger (costume design), Ken Billington (lighting design), Peter Hylenski (sound design), William Berloni (animal training), Keith Levinson (musical supervision and additional orchestrations). Annie will feature choreography by Liza Gennaro, who will incorporate selections from her father Peter Gennaro’s 1977 Tony-winning dances. Annie has a book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse, and lyrics by Martin Charnin.
This production marks the first major theatrical event in the history of the Kings Theatre, a former movie house that reopened earlier this year after a $95 million restoration.
